Kalmatia Sangam, Almora
In the 16th century, the Chand rajas ruled Kumaon from Almora. Kalmatia sangam estate stands on what was then the armory. As you sit around a bonfire, you can see the all powerful yogi who once came asking for firewood. The arrogant war minister scoffed at him and gave him iron instead. The yogi burned the iron! The soil turned black, hence kali – mati. In its 2 years, this resort has seen commendations in some of the most well known international travel magazines and catalogues for its unique presence.
